Current Transformer Protection Unit

A major operational risk with current transformers (CTs) is an open circuit condition in the secondary circuit while the primary circuit remains energized.
This risk can arise during routine maintenance or from damages to leads or contacts.
High voltage transients in this situation may damage the CT winding, potentially leading to further destruction.
The HVR Current Transformer Protection Unit (CTPU) offers protection for your CT against these operational risks.

HVR Varistor for High Impedance Relay

High impedance relay applications may require an HVR non-linear resistor to limit the CT secondary voltage to a safe level during a maximum internal fault condition.
The appropriate HVR non-linear resistor depends on:
- Relay setting voltage
- Maximum secondary internal fault current
Single HVR discs are suitable for secondary internal fault currents up to 50A rms.
For larger fault currents, HVR non-linear resistors with multiple discs connected in parallel are used.
